Admissions Counselor

October 2023 - Current

In my role within the Office of Graduate Admissions at Harding University, I focus on recruiting individuals for the Harding School of Theology (HST) while aiding them in discerning their vocational path in ministry and theological education. My approach involves deeply engaging with each person, listening to their narratives, and providing supportive guidance as they navigate the call of God in their lives. Through one-on-one consultations, I foster an environment where individuals feel heard and empowered to explore their spiritual journey. Additionally, I extend my influence beyond campus by representing HST at various conferences and gatherings, advocating for the significance of theological education and inviting others to deepen their relationship with God through academic pursuits. I facilitate instruction for students on spiritual formation and contemplative disciplines, and am a regularly featured speaker in weekly chapel for students and faculty. Furthermore, I played an influential role on the HST Academic Transition Team, contributing to the smooth transition of the campus from Tennessee to Arkansas. My multifaceted role relies on my ability as a communicator, a mentor, and a facilitator in guiding individuals towards their calling and supporting institutional transitions.

OP Church. Overland Park, Kansas.

Youth Minister

January 2020 - April 2021

I began my journey at OP Church, located just outside of Kansas City, at the beginning of 2020, only to face the unprecedented challenges brought on by the global pandemic shortly after. Despite the uncertainties, my team and I remained steadfast in our mission to raise up another generation to join in the work of Jesus for the greater good of the world. This period taught me invaluable lessons in flexibility, creativity, and adaptability, as we navigated uncharted territory to ensure the continuity of our ministry.

Alongside my co-youth minister, I took pride in building and equipping a dedicated team of volunteers who worked closely with us, infusing the ministry with energy and passion. Emphasizing the importance of one-on-one ministry and small group teachings, I strived to create meaningful connections both online and in-person with the teens and their families.

Over time, it became clear to the leadership at OP Church that we held differing views and philosophies of youth ministry, and based on those differences, it was decided that it was in OP Church’s best interest to part ways with me in April 2021.

My time at OP Church allowed me to develop resilience, leadership, and a profound commitment to serving others. Despite the eventual parting of paths, I am grateful for the enriching experiences and the profound impact we made on the lives of the youth and the community during my tenure.

Youth Ministry Apprentice

August 2018 - December 2019

During my time at Sycamore View, my apprenticeship played a vital role in fulfilling the requirements of Lipscomb University's Master of Divinity program. The M.Div. program is practicum based, so my classroom studies were oriented around the congregational context where I worked. At Sycamore View, I had the privilege of being mentored by esteemed leaders, Fawn Taylor and Jim Hinkle, who collectively possess 25 years of invaluable ministry experience. The combination of insights from my Lipscomb professors and the wisdom imparted by Jim and Fawn proved to be an enriching and powerful combination.

Under their guidance, I not only learned how to effectively apply and share the knowledge gained in the classroom but also honed my skills in managing a large network of volunteers. Serving alongside the dynamic youth ministry team at Sycamore View was an exciting and transformative experience. Moreover, collaborating with the rest of the staff, I deepened my understanding of the God who has called me into ministry.

Highland Hills Church of Christ. Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Youth and Family Minister

May 2016 - August 2018

In May of 2016, I embarked on a transformative journey as the Youth and Family Minister at Highland Hills Church of Christ. As the congregation's first full-time family minister, I felt incredibly blessed by the opportunities to learn more about myself and the ministry God had called me to undertake. From the moment I joined, I was inspired by the dedication of the existing volunteers who had been doing a commendable job within their time constraints, recognizing the potential for even greater involvement and investment.
Over the span of a year, I dedicated myself to cultivating a vibrant community at Highland Hills Church of Christ by meticulously crafting a set of strong core values. These values became the bedrock and guiding principles that shaped our interactions and fostered a deep sense of connection with God. Through intentional implementation, these core values served as the foundation for creating a close-knit and intergenerational community of individuals who shared a common spiritual journey. With a strong emphasis on these values, we were able to build a strong, unified community, where the youth and families of Highland Hills found a place to grow together in their understanding of God's character and love. This inclusive and nurturing environment allowed everyone involved to experience the transformative power of faith and to forge lasting relationships within our church family.

Beyond my role with the youth ministry, I embraced the chance to actively participate in various other ministries both within our congregation and the Tullahoma community. By preaching to our congregation once a month, I deepened my connection with the church's members. My wife, Morgan, and I were devoted volunteers in the children's ministry, cherishing the opportunity to positively impact the lives of the young ones.

Additionally, I was privileged to collaborate with Better Together, a group fostering community connections, and frequently collaborated with the local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, making meaningful contributions to the broader community.

My time at Highland Hills Church of Christ was a period of significant growth, where I discovered the profound impact of building strong foundations, fostering community engagement, and embracing the joy of serving others in various capacities. I cherish the memories and the lessons learned during my tenure, and I am grateful for the unwavering support and cooperation of the congregation and fellow ministry partners.

Representing diverse segments of the student body, we acted as a liaison between the student community, the university president, and the faculty chapel committee.

Alpha Chi Malachi, the academic club for Harding Bible majors, played a pivotal role in shaping my ministerial journey. From the moment I joined during my first semester, this vibrant community provided invaluable opportunities for growth and preparation for future ministry. In recognition of my dedication and passion, I was humbled to be elected by my peers as one of the three student officers for the 2013-2014 school year.

As an active student officer, I actively contributed to the club's mission by recruiting engaging speakers for Alpha Chi Malachi meetings. These speakers offered practical lessons and insights, enriching our understanding of ministry beyond the classroom setting. Additionally, I took part in planning a transformative weekend preaching retreat to Paragould, Arkansas, where we immersed ourselves in intensive learning and practical experience.

Serving as a student officer within Alpha Chi Malachi was a privilege that allowed me to collaborate with like-minded individuals, and it deepened my passion for ministry. Harding In Zambia

During the fall of 2012, I embarked on a life-changing journey, spending a semester studying abroad in Kalomo, Zambia. My mornings were dedicated to classroom study, where I gained profound insights into the intricacies of missions and its impact on local communities.

The afternoons provided me with the incredible opportunity to engage in hands-on ministry work. I eagerly volunteered at a local children's home, where I found joy in nurturing and supporting the young lives in need. Additionally, I assisted in a medical clinic, extending a helping hand to those seeking medical care and compassion.
